On October 31, 2016, OSCG and Osgoode Business Law Society jointly hosted a Lunch n’ Learn featuring Osgoode’s very own Professor Poonam Puri as the speaker. Professor Poonam Puri is one of Canada’s most respected scholars and commentators on issues of corporate law and corporate governance, and it was wonderful to hear her insight on the leading trends in corporate governance for 2017.
Professor Poonam Puri discussed the changing governance landscape of Canadian public companies and the shifting balance of power between shareholders, stakeholders, and the board of directors. The lecture also critically explored how corporate directors and activist shareholders make decisions in real-time and the multitude of factors that influence intervention by government and regulators.
Thanks to everyone who came out to the event! We hope you enjoyed the discussions led by Professor Poonam Puri and learned something new about corporate governance.
